Three people including two childrenwere hospitalized in critical condition after a collision Wednesday morning involving an armored truck and a sedan in west Phoenix, a Phoenix Fire Department spokesperson said. Fire crews were dispatched to a vehicle crash in the area of 83rd Avenue and Thomas Road after 7:30 a.m.and found a four-door sedan and an armored truck that appeared to have been in a head-on collision. Fire crews safely removed three people found trapped in the sedan. The three patients — a 29-year-old man in critical condition, an 11-year-old girl in "extremely" critical condition, and a5-year-old girl in critical condition — were taken to a hospital, according to a release from Phoenix police. Detectives later learned that the sedan's driver was going westbound on Thomas Road at a high speed and lost control, crossing onto eastbound traffic and colliding with an armored truck, according to a news advisory from the Phoenix Police Department.
